Context

Starting on Day 1, President Trump has promised to “carry out the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.” He has announced plans to target immigrant children, families and workers, and to, once again, separate children from their parents at the border.

Trump has also said he'll steamroll over city and local governments that have democratically-decided that protecting immigrant residents is both right and smart. Trump has said he will slash federal funding to these cities, and will use the military to replace local police.

While he chooses cruelty and chaos, we choose community. While he chooses hate, we choose love. While he chooses to separate families, remove teachers from their classrooms, and remove workers from their communities, we choose to protect all those people who make up the places we call home.

To do that, we’re building a strong and sustainable movement to defend ourselves and our neighbors. We are calling on you!

We’ve done it before. Last time he was President, Trump pushed cruel and senseless anti-immigrant policies (i.e Muslim Bans, attacks on DACA, Title 42, etc) that hurt millions of people and communities across the country.

But we didn’t let fear overwhelm us. We showed up for each other. At airports, at detention camps, at courts, at schools, in state legislatures, Congress and the White House. We showed up and pushed back against vile words and policies.

We did that because we know immigrants contribute to creating a strong and dynamic United States of America. We know that immigrant workers, families and children enrich our culture and our country.

What's needed in this moment of crisis is for us to fight together and to refuse to give in to mass detention and deportation.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that." - Martin Luther King Jr.

We will not be silent in the face of brutality. We will be the light in the face of darkness.

BREAKING: A US CITIZEN HAS BEEN ARRESTED AND WRONGFULLY HELD BY ICE

THE TRUMP REGIME IS ESCALATING ITS HOSTILE POWER GRAB BY TARGETING A US BORN CITIZEN — NOW IT'S CLEAR WE’RE ALL AT RISK

This is a major escalation of the regime's authoritarian quest to dismantle all of our fundamental rights - from US citizens, and legal permanent  residents to DACA recipients, asylum seekers, and our undocumented neighbors.

Juan Carlos Lopez Gomez was illegally arrested by ICE agents on Wednesday April 15th. He was charged under a new law in Florida that is currently enjoined in court and not enforceable. Juan Carlos is a US born citizen and was racially profiled and arrested before having an ICE hold placed on his case.

On April 17th, at the Court hearing in Leon County, his mother presented his US birth certificate and his social security card. Outrageously, these documents were not considered enough to grant an immediate release.

There has never been a more important moment to find community and take action together. Every one of us has skin in the game, and we can’t let the regime unjustly come after any one of us without a fight.

Support this effort by taking these 3 quick steps:

1. Sign the solidarity pledge now to protect your rights and the rights of your neighbors
2. Call the regional ICE office in Tallahassee, FL at (850) 504-5200 to demand Juan Carlos release
3. Join our organizing call on Thursday, April 24th, at 7pm EST to align on ways we can fight back! RSVP HERE
